RTX 2080 Ti Blower vs Dual Fan vs Triple Fan or Water Cooled?
Good question! You might be thinking that a blower design for an RTX 2080 Ti is useless or must be avoided considering that the new Founders Edition features a dual fan design. Well, there are special cases where you still need a blower type design. For instance, in systems / chassis that have limited air flow and you need a two-slot design. A blower type RTX 2080 Ti might be the good choice. It sucks in air and blows all the heat at the back, out of the chassis.
Now whether you should get an RTX 2080 Ti with dual fan cooling solution or triple fan cooling solution is up to you. The dual fan cooling solution is usually good enough to keep the RTX 2080 Ti running at its optimal performance. You may need to bump up the fan speed if you really want to keep the card getting higher boost clock speed. But as a result, fan noise would increase as well. Obviously, a triple-fan cooling solution is superior when it comes to cooling the RTX 2080 Ti. It’s also cooler thanks to larger heat sink and due to the fact that it has three fans. The downside of a triple fan design is the size, it is usually big, thick and most of the time more expensive compared to RTX 2080 Ti with dual fan design.
As for hybrid and water cooled RTX 2080 Ti, this is more of an “enthusiast” type of product. Obviously, the RTX 2080 Ti will run cooler when it is water-cooled. But it’s also going to be an expensive solution, not to mention it is also prone to pump failure. I don’t generally recommend this type to most users and casual gamers. This is for the water cooling enthusiasts who really knows what they are doing and getting into.
What Monitor is Best for the RTX 2080 Ti?
The GeForce RTX 2080 Ti is best suited for 1440p high refresh rate gaming monitors and 2160p or 4K UHD resolution. If you’re simply using a 1080p monitor, even if it’s a high refresh rate one; you might want to consider getting an RTX 2060 or RTX 2070 instead. Your 1080p monitor is going to “bottleneck” the RTX 2080 Ti.
What CPU is best for RTX 2080 Ti?
Speaking of bottleneck, your CPU may also be a culprit as well. We recommend that you pair the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti with an Intel Core i7 or Core i9 processor or an AMD Ryzen 7 CPU. A Core i5 or a Ryzen 5 is okay, but think of it as the minimum. I’m not saying you can’t pair the RTX 2080 Ti with a lower end CPU. It will run but your system is definitely not balanced. If you’re building a gaming PC, everything should be balanced; from the CPU, memory, GPU, storage and including the monitor. Otherwise, you may experience some bottlenecks or uneven performance, perhaps stuttering or lags in worst case scenario.
Finally, let’s check out some of the best RTX 2080 Ti in the market.
GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Top Picks
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition
Yes, the RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition is going to be in our top pick and I personally consider it to be one of the best RTX 2080 Ti in the market. Unlike with the previous Founders Edition cards, the RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition features factory overclock speeds. It’s no longer the reference design due to its boost clock speed. Also it’s a premium product with an all-metal body. The graphics card itself feels really solid and has a good weight to it. Some are also saying that the GPU on the Founders Edition are cherry picked or binned, but in our test performance is similar to higher-end RTX 2080 Ti models.

EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming
The EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming is one big and beefy graphics card. It’s the best that the company has to offer. You get a triple fan design, ICX 2 cooling technology, “overkill” sensor, wattage and temperature monitoring, and a huge chunck of aluminum fin stack. It also has a controllable RGB lightning; but the RTX 2080 Ti FTW3 Ultra is huge and it will occupy three slots due to its size.

MSI GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Lightning Z
Up next is the MSI GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Lightning Z graphics card. It’s MSI’s cream of the crop RTX 2080 Ti designed for enthusiasts and overclockers. It features Tri-Frozr thermal design with three fans, two of them having RGB lighting, and it has this nice gold, black carbon fiber theme design. Instead of a metal backplate, MSI is using a full carbon backplate and it looks really cool. There’s also a customizable OLED panel on the front-side portion of the graphics card.

MSI GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Gaming X Trio
If the RTX 2080 Ti Lightning Z is too expensive for you, the MSI GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Gaming X Trio is a good alternative if you want an MSI graphics card. It also features a triple fan design with MSI’s Torx fan 3.0 and Tri-Frozr thermal design. It also has customizable RGB lighting, a huge aluminum fin-stack and a custom PCB design with metal frame and a metal back plate for added support and aesthetics. One thing that I like about this is that the Gaming X Trio sounds more silent compared to other cooling solution and the noise that the fans produce isn’t that harsh or obnoxiously loud compared to other cooling fans.

Gigabyte Aorus GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Xtreme
The Aorus GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Xtreme is currently the best that Gigabyte has to offer. It also features a triple fan design, with the center fan spinning on an alternate direction. The fans have RGB lighting on its sides, giving it a “ring-light” effect that looks very cool. What’s unique and interesting with the Aorus RTX 2080 Ti Xtreme is that it has 7 video outputs. It has three HDMI 2.0b, three DisplayPort 1.4 and the USB Type-C port for VirtualLink. I also like the design of this graphics card. It’s gaming-centric but the design doesn’t scream.

Asus ROG Strix RTX 2080 Ti OC Edition
Last but definitely not the least on our best RTX 2080 Ti list is the Asus ROG Strix RTX 2080 Ti OC Edition. This is not the best that the company has to offer. They have the ROG Matrix RTX 2080 Ti for that matter. But it’s currently not available at the time I wrote this article. Perhaps I’ll update this once it becomes available. The ROG Strix RTX 2080 Ti OC is currently the better RTX 2080 Ti that Asus has to offer. Its design is somewhat reminiscent of their ROG Strix GTX 10 series graphics card. It’s an all-black graphics card with minimal RGB lighting. It’s also a triple fan design with axial-tech fans that are IP5X dust resistant. If you want an Asus ROG graphics card, this one should be on your list as well.
